Our family has lived in Tinahely for twenty-five years; my husbands family before us. When we first moved here, it was natural for us to get a cat, then hens, then dogs, then more cats and more dogs, and even a donkey. When my daughters came along, we got two ponies as they are both avid equestrians. We decided to Home Educate our children for Primary School, and so minding and engaging with animals became an even more integral part of our day.

My daughters now live in Dublin and time opened up for a new venture. My husband and I decided to open a kennels and cattery for which I now run with increasing success. I love being outdoors and spending time walking and playing with the dogs. The cats mainly require some affection, presence and admiration! My son, Adam, now thirteen has been by my side in this pursuit and my daughter Rachel also helps when at home so it is very much a family effort. We give all our four legged visitors a lot of attention and care and do so with humour and energy, bearing in mind the individual needs of each animal.
